New plans for a second railway linking Tibet with other parts of the country have been put forward as part of proposals for China’s 13th Five-Year Plan.
According to the People’s Daily, the planned railway would connect the Tibetan Autonomous Region’s capital of Lhasa with Sichuan’s provincial capital of Chengdu. Reports indicate that the railway would be about 1,630 kilometers in length, with a journey taking 15 hours.[Source]
