Dharamshala, 11 September 2017: Two environment research fellows of Tibet Policy Institute participated in the two day International Conference on Biodiversity, Climate Change and Environmental Sciences 2017 hosted by Nirmala College for Women in Coimbatore from 08 September 2017.
Mr. Tempa Gyaltsen and Mrs. Dechen Palmo gave presentations on Climate change on the Tibetan Plateau. During the presentations, TPI fellows introduced Central Tibetan Administration and Tibet Policy Institute to the delegates and the large audience of College faculties and studies. It also creates awareness about Tibet’s environmental significance.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. P.D. Prasada Rao, FNA, FNASc, INSA Hon. Scientist, Environmental Health Division, CSIR – National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur. Many eminent scientists, Biologists and Environmentalists participated in the plenary sessions of the conference. More than 200 students and faculties attended the conference.
On 11 September, The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education (DLIHE), Bangalore will host the presentation by two environment research fellows to their students and faculties in Bangalore.
On 15 September, Delhi based United Service Institute and Tibet Policy Institute will jointly organize a workshop on ‘Tibet: Environment, Water Management, Division of the Plateau and China’s Ownership of Tibetan Buddhism’ where research fellows from Tibet Policy Institute will give presentations followed by a day long program at the Tibetan Youth Hostel on 16 September.
