Washington DC: A four-member delegation from the Tibet Policy Institute headed by its Deputy Director, Mr. Tenzin Lekshay visited Washington D.C for a week-long meetings and the seminar on contemporary Tibet organized by Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advance International Studies in Washington DC on 27 June 2017.
During the seminar, TPI fellows Dr. Tenzin Tsultrim, Mr. Tenzin Dalha and Mr. Tenzin Tseten presented their working papers on Infrastructure Development on the Tibetan Plateau and its Significance, Social Media and Cyber Security and China’s Institutionalization of Tibetan Buddhism respectively. It was attended by a dozen of Tibet observers and scholars who are affiliated to various institutions in and around D.C.
The TPI members met with scholars and researchers from Congressional Executive Committee on China, Congressional Research Service, the Brookings Institute, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Kissinger Institute, China Environmental Forum, National Endowment for Democracy and International Campaign for Tibet.
Capital Area Tibetan Community also hosted an informal interactive session of TPI fellows with Tibetan communities members.
Dr. Anne Thurston, School of Advance International Studies, Johns Hopkins University and the Grassroots China Initiative hosted the delegation.
The first TPI delegation visited the Washington DC in September 2016.
