The Tibet Policy Institute, a research center of the Central Tibetan Administration, participated in a day-long conference on Researching Contemporary Tibet: People, Power and Resilience, organized by the University of Westminster, London.
Five research scholars of the TPI present their research papers alongside scholars, experts and PhD candidates from prestigious universities in London. Around 40 people attended the conference and the speakers include Professor Dibyesh Anand, Head of the Department: Politics and International Relations, University of Westminster, Professor Anna Morcom, Royal Holloway, University of London, Dr Fiona McConnell, University of Oxford, Dr Tsering Topgyal, University of Birmingham and three Chinese scholars.
The conference was structured in three sessions: In the morning session Mr. Zamlha Tempa Gyaltsen presented his research findings on the topic “Global Implications of a Degraded Tibetan Plateau”. Mr. Tenzin Tseten, in the post lunch session spoke on “Tibetan Leadership Formation in Tibet: post 1950”. In the final session, Mr. Tenzin Dalha presented his paper on “Chinese censorship vs Tibetan activism on social medial”, followed by Mr. Thubten Samphel, the Director of TPI presented on “Contrasting Narratives on Tibet between Tibetan Exiles and China” and Mr. Tenzin Tsultrim presented on the “Militarization of Tibetan Plateau and Its Significance”.
